I Would Rather Be Like Sea Kelp

I would rather be like sea kelp.
Not for lust or feel, guilt or need
I’ll pass on hands or thought for help
And instead, adopt the tumbleweed.

An absent pilot, an empty chair
In a world of gales and brine.
Without Doctor, Sergeant or Master,
I want a name that is wholly mine.

The lights are on, well lit, and bright
But my persona lives to be free.
No maps, no signs, no career decisions
Just the wind and waves guiding me.
