A Mood Struck

A mood struck, one we couldn’t name.
A cog or gear, perhaps, gone or out of place,
and so we left the flat,
walked toward some shops
we had never walked to before.
One full of rental DVDs.
I spotted Truffaut lost in the Russian section.
The 400 Blows for 89p,
the DVD box empty.
We visited a cider shop, closed,
and instead just looked through
the windows, found a poster
preaching the Scrumpy Sailor
– out of stock.
And then we met
some art next door.
Pins, broaches, prints,
each with a quirky design.
A fox drinking tea.
King Kong swinging from a chandelier.
Little pieces to keep us busy,
to fill our day with something.
