To Lighten The Load of Her Heavy Mind

“It’s not the world I endure,
it’s myself.” The simple tasks,
to venture out for the newspaper,
to persist through the meal
in the local café, have this sudden
gravity
and pressure
applied to her shoulders,
to her beautiful mind;
she’s not quite used to it.

It’s not the end of the world
to have a bad day, where all
you wish to do is pull down
the blinds, bar the doors
from the inside
and hide.
No,
it’s not the end of the world.
