Death sometimes lets
Nature take its course.
It might explain why
He has often been seen
Standing at the tip of a
Pirogue, racing down
The Congo river, arms
Wide spread in joy,
His bare feet bony and white
Perched on the wood,
Hurtling towards
His calling comfort
Heart of darkness.

Nice!

Thanks! Funnily from Kurt! (as in, the title was from Colonel Kurtz’ “The Horror, the horror!”)

I wish I knew the background to this. Why the Congo river?

It’s tied to Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, where the protagonist travels into the Congo – also where the famous quote “The horror! The horror!” comes from =)
